Frequently Asked Questions
If you are considering undergoing ruqyah for the first time, it’s advisable to consult a “raqi”. A raqi can assess your condition, determine whether ruqyah is appropriate, and diagnose any potential spiritual issues that may be causing distress.
Ruqyah without proper knowledge and guidance can lead to adverse reactions. Individuals might not be fully aware of what is happening to them, and their reactions could be misinterpreted or misunderstood.
In cases where an individual experiences reactions to ruqyah, family members may not know how to respond or provide assistance. Consulting a raqi initially can help provide guidance to both the individual seeking ruqyah and their family members.
Generally, self-Ruqyah is encouraged. It strengthens your connection with Allah and empowers you to take an active role in your healing. I often guide clients with specific audios and steps tailored to their case.
It’s normal to experience physical, emotional, or spiritual reactions after a session. You’ll be given guidance on what to monitor, how to use Ruqyah audios, and when to check in for a follow-up review.
Nausea can be a sign the body or soul is reacting to the treatment—especially if spiritual afflictions are present. It’s often temporary and indicates the process is working. You’ll be guided on what to do next.
Healing isn’t always immediate. Everyone’s journey is different, depending on the type and duration of affliction, personal effort, and consistency in following the program. It’s a process that requires patience.
And certainly, We shall test you with something of fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives and fruits, but give glad tidings to As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.). Who, when afflicted with calamity, say: “Truly! To Allah we belong and truly, to Him we shall return.”
They are those on whom are the Salawat (i.e. blessings, etc.) (i.e. who are blessed and will be forgiven) from their Lord, and (they are those who) receive His Mercy, and it is they who are the guided-ones.
(al-Baqarah 2, 155-157)
Sometimes results are delayed, or they’re subtle and gradual. Other times, hidden resistance needs to be addressed.
Make lots of du’a and Istighfar, and keep up with your adhkār. Check what you might be doing (acts of disobedience) that might be stopping the Mercy of Allāh from reaching you.
Shaykh Ibn Baaz (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Many people do not benefit from the means and measures, or from ruqyah done by reciting Qur’an or other words, because the conditions are not met and the impediments are not absent. If every sick person could be healed by means of ruqyah or medical treatment, no one would die. But it is Allah, may He be glorified, in Whose hand is control of healing. If He wills that, He makes the means thereof easily available, and if He does not will that, the means will be to no avail.
(Majmoo‘ Fataawa Ibn Baaz (8/61))

Yes, with the right approach and guidance, Ruqyah is safe for children. Treatment is adapted to their age and situation. Parents are involved in supporting the process with gentleness and wisdom.
Sensations of movement, twitching, heaviness on your shoulders and back, or feeling like insects crawling under your skin can be spiritual reactions. They often indicate the presence of an affliction that’s been disturbed by the Ruqyah. We’ll assess how to manage this in follow-ups.
Struggling to pray is often a sign of spiritual interference or emotional burnout. This can be addressed through Ruqyah, coaching, and spiritual reminders that help restore your ability to reconnect.
As much as you may be finding it difficult to pray due to your affliction, you must fulfill what is obligatory. Pray your fardh (obligatory) for now and slowly work towards the Sunnah (recommended) and Nawafil (optional) prayers.
Sleep paralysis may indicate jinn interference or emotional stress, and it’s often a sign that Ruqyah is needed.
It typically happens just as you’re falling asleep or waking up. You may feel a heavy, immobilising force pressing down on you, making it difficult to breathe, move, or call out. Some people also report feeling as if they’ve left their body and are looking down at themselves.
If this occurs frequently, it’s advisable to seek Ruqyah treatment.
Practical Tips:
Avoid sleeping on your back. Try to sleep on your right side, stay in a state of wudhu, and recite your bedtime adhkār.
Spiders appearing suddenly or frequently may be symbolic in certain cases of sihr (magic) or waswasah. If this is recurring, we assess its relevance during your treatment and explore possible causes.
Play the adhan and Qur’an in the house regularly as a supplement to reciting.
Unexplained scratches may indicate jinn activity or reactions to Ruqyah. These are taken seriously and documented as part of your case to help determine the nature of your affliction.
One of the signs of sihr or jinn influence is making minor issues feel overwhelming. If you notice extreme reactions or emotional shifts, it could be part of the affliction’s strategy to create division or despair.
Fatigue, emotional outbursts, physical discomfort, or unusual dreams can occur. This is often a sign that the affliction is weakening or resisting. We guide you on how to manage these symptoms and what to expect next.
There is no one-size-fits-all answer. Some respond quickly; others need consistent, long-term care. A proper assessment after each stage helps determine the next steps in your healing journey.
Clients often report noticeable shifts — emotionally, mentally, and physically. These may include feeling lighter, calmer, more mentally clear, or even feeling like “yourself” again. Long-standing pain, pressure, or spiritual symptoms may also ease or disappear. In some cases, reactions during Ruqyah (such as yawning, crying, shaking, or vomiting) reduce or stop altogether. When multiple jinn are involved, this process may happen gradually over several sessions. A full review is usually done during the Post-Ruqyah Review session to assess progress and plan next steps.
