Shaytāns three angles of attack
Every intelligent person knows that Shaytān has no way to [attack] him except from three angles:
- Extravagance. [A person] takes more than he needs, so it becomes superfluous, and [surplus] is the share of Shaytān and his point of entry to the heart. The way to avoid this is to avoid giving the self all it wants of food, sleep, pleasure and comfort. When you close this door, you will be safe from the enemy entering through it.
- Heedlessness. One who remembers [Allāh] is in an impenetrable fortress. If he becomes forgetful and heedless, he opens the gates of the fortress, and the enemy enters, after which it is difficult to expel him.
- Affectation of what does not concern oneself, or what one is not qualified to involve oneself in.

Introduction to ruqya
To understand ruqya and benefit from it, one must also understand Qadar (divine preordainment), since nothing happens without the permission of Allāh (Azzawajal). While the purpose of ruqya is to help cure a person or a place affected by Jinn/sihr (magic), by using verses of the Qur’ān in the manner prescribed, ruqya should primarily serve to alleviate the suffering and inability to fulfil the purpose for which Allāh created mankind and Jinn, which is to worship Him alone without ascribing partners to Him.
“And I (Allāh) created not the jinns and humans except they should worship Me (Alone).” This ayah is a confirmation of their presence for those who deny their existence.
There is no doubt that seeking a remedy with the Noble Qur’ān and authentic Prophetic traditions is useful and leads to a complete recovery. Allāh says: “Say: it is for those who believe, a guide and a healing.”
“Allāh has never created a disease but created its treatment, that is known by some people and unknown to others, except death.”
In another Hadith, “There is no disease that Allāh has created, except that He also has created its remedy.”
So, the Qur’ān is a complete remedy for all the diseases of the hearts and bodies and also from the diseases of this world and the Hereafter. But not everyone succeeds in obtaining a cure with the Qur’ān. If the patient cures his disease with sincerity and belief, complete acceptance, decisive conviction and applying all the conditions, the disease will not continue forever. How can a disease resist the words of the Lord of the Heavens and the earth? If these words were revealed upon the mountains or the earth, these mountains would split and the earth would be rent asunder .
